Choosing The Perfect Tree For Your Biodegradable Pet Urn

One of the first things you will need to do when ordering your pet urn for the first time is specify the type of tree you would like as your memorial. Depending on whether you are purchasing a biodegradable urn in South Africa or United Kingdom, we have a range of beautiful trees and shrubs to memorialise your pet.

Our South Africa-specific trees include the river indigo, September bells and the September bush. For the UK, we have the sweet chestnut tree, the English oak tree and broom. Many of these memorial trees can be planted indoors or outdoors depending on how you want to memorialise your pet. You should check the potential size the tree could grow to before planting your Biotree urn indoors or outdoors. Growing Your Biodegradable Pet Urn Tree - The Key Steps

Your pet urn will come with everything you need to grow your seeds and add the ashes to the Biotree urn.

You will need to add 800ml of water to the top of the Biotree urn to expand the soil disk. Once this happens, you will be able to plant your seeds 2-3cm deep in the soil.

The germination period for your seeds varies dependent on the seeds you have chosen. After the initial planting of the seeds, it is important to be attentive to ensure the healthy germination and growth of the seeds.

You will then be able to place the ashes of a loved one in the base of the urn. Following this, you will be able to plant the urn to ground level.

Following the planting of your biodegradable pet urn, you can geotag and write an online memorial to your loved pet and join the global community of Biotree owners memorialising their loved ones and giving back to the Earth.

What Else Do I Need To Know About My Biodegradable Pet Urn?

We often receive questions from our valued customers about our pet urns, please find helpful information below:

  • You can use your Biotree with old ashes - the age of the ashes will not impact on the growing process of your seeds.
  • Your Biotree urn does not have an expiry date - if you intend to keep your urn for an extended period we recommend keeping it in a cool, dry place. If you keep your urn for longer than 12 months, you may need to consider the seeds. It is possible for seeds to lose their viability after this period of time.
  • You can use as much ash as you see fit - our biodegradable pet urns are designed to use a portion of your ashes. This is in case you wish to retain some of the ashes separately, or use the remaining ashes as part of a scattering ceremony.
